We are about to enter the studio to record some vintage 7-inch vinyl!
2012 has been a tremendous year to us so far. We’ve shared the stage with bands like The Toasters, The Pinstripes, and Deal’s Gone Bad. We had the pleasure of opening for songwriter and former Modern Lovers frontman Jonathan Richman at the Cedar Cultural Center earlier this month. Last month, we played a surprisingly spectacular show to a packed house in New Ulm as well as opening for LA’s dirty reggae and soul band The Aggrolites at The Cabooze. After playing all these incredible shows, it’s time to record some brand new tunes for you all to enjoy!
After writing a number of new songs, we will be entering the studio in early July for a vintage recording session at Shock and Audio (Lyndale and Lake in Uptown Minneapolis). To achieve a truly vintage sound, we will be live tracking and mixing exclusively to tape (no computer involved!). The goal of these recordings is to put out a 7-inch vinyl as part of the Moondust Records series. Moondust is a label in Los Angeles that produces vinyl releases that honor the golden age of Jamaican reggae. They’ve put out releases by classic groups like The Soulsteppers and Laurel Aitken. We also hope to put out our own self-released 7-inch as a result of these recordings.
After these sessions, we will be taking a short pause for the cause. Some of us will be traveling abroad to parts unknown for some much needed vacation. Others will simply enjoy the hot, sticky summer weather that MN provides. We will be back in action in August – September, refreshed and ready to go. Hopefully with some brand new vinyl for all of you to get your grubby little paws on.
